Atal Tinkering Lab equipment list (category-wise)
The Atal Innovation Mission groups ATL equipment into categories so students can move from simple circuits to complete projects. The list below shows the typical items in each category; the exact items and quantities depend on your school size and the current AIM guidelines.
| Category | Typical equipment |
|---|---|
| Electronics & development | Arduino / microcontroller boards, breadboards, resistors, LEDs, motors and drivers, multimeter, soldering station, power supply, jumper wires |
| Sensors & IoT | Ultrasonic, IR, temperature, humidity, gas, soil-moisture, light and motion sensors; Wi-Fi boards (NodeMCU/ESP); IoT starter kits |
| Robotics | Robotics kits with chassis, motors, wheels and servos; line-follower and obstacle-avoider kits; robotic arm; humanoid kit |
| 3D printing & design | 3D printer with filament, 3D design software, computers / laptops for coding and design |
| Drones | Educational drone kit with spare propellers, batteries and safety cage |
| Mechanical & power tools | Hand drill, cordless screwdriver, glue gun, hacksaw, pliers, cutters, measuring tools, vice, toolkit set |
| Safety & storage | First-aid kit, fire extinguisher, safety goggles, gloves, labelled storage cabinets and component trays |
| Furniture & display | Workbenches and stools, whiteboard, projector or smart screen, project display shelves, lab branding |

How to choose ATL equipment
Match the age group
Classes 6–8 need plug-and-play kits; classes 9–12 can use microcontrollers, IoT and 3D design.
Buy for batch size
Plan one kit per group of 3–4 students so a full class can work at the same time.
Plan consumables
Filament, batteries, components and spares run out — keep part of the budget for refills.
Think safety
Soldering, power tools and drones need safety gear, supervision and clear lab rules.
Equipment plus training and curriculum
Equipment alone does not make an active lab. Techradiance supplies AIM-compliant equipment together with installation, teacher training and a class-wise project curriculum. See our complete ATL lab setup service, or browse individual robotics kits and components.

Frequently Asked Questions
What equipment is in an Atal Tinkering Lab?
An ATL usually has electronics and development boards, sensors, robotics kits, IoT kits, a 3D printer, drone kits, mechanical and power tools, safety equipment, and furniture for workbenches and storage.
Is there an official ATL equipment list?
Yes, the Atal Innovation Mission publishes indicative equipment categories for ATL. Schools choose items within these categories based on their needs; check aim.gov.in for the latest guidelines.
How many robotics kits does an ATL need?
Plan roughly one kit per group of 3–4 students in a batch. For a class of 40, that is about 10–12 kits.
Can we buy ATL equipment from Techradiance?
Yes. We supply complete ATL equipment packages as well as individual kits and components, with installation and training.
Is a 3D printer compulsory in an ATL?
3D printing is one of the standard ATL categories and is strongly recommended, as it lets students turn designs into real prototypes.
